The 12 Best Mops

Our Top 3 Absolute Favorites:

1. BOSHENG Flat Floor Mop and Bucket with Wringer Set

I am so happy I bought this product. My mopping became possible & easy. I suffer from multiple allergies & chemical sensitivities in my body. I was breaking my back every time I had to use a regular mop & buckets.

It’s not cheap to keep up with the frequent replacements. And when you’re allergic/sensitive to so many things, there’s no way you can wash all those things out of your clothes at once. So I ended up having an Amazon cart full of dirty buckles, cloths, linens etc. That wasn’t working well.

This system is super convenient & practical. Each day as part of my routine, I’d take the bucket outside & throw the used mop into the laundry basket (which I’ve started putting in a separate plastic bag). Then I fill the bucket with soap & disinfectant. After that I rinse the whole thing in hot water 4 times. Afterwards, I hang both sides of the mop over a towel rack that I have next to my sink & let them air dry. When they’re dried completely, I store the mop & bucket together in their designated spot. This takes up less space in my closet & saves me the effort of storing separately.

Afterwards, I spray the mop heads with cleaner & then attach them to the handles. Easy peasy lemon squeezie.

2. Swiffer-Sweeper 2-in-1 Mops for Floor Cleaning, Dry and Wet Multi Surface Cleaner

I was so excited when I heard the product would be released. I preordered it and waited patiently. As promised, It arrived in two days (Thank You Amazon). The package contained everything I needed including instructions which is great because they included a very detailed how & why each step should be done as well as what items were needed per job. Very helpful especially with my OCD tendencies.

The sweeper part works extremely well. It’s quick, easy and actually does an excellent job at cleaning up dirty floors. There’s no need for any additional products on top of this one – although that would be even better 🙂 The reason I gave it only four stars for ease of use is because while it is pretty simple to assemble, it did not come with ANY tools to put it together nor any type of wrench or tool to tighten down the screws. They give you three little metal wrenches but no pliers which is odd since most likely someone who buys one of these units has a set of pliers in their home already; And definitely has access to a screwdriver.

So, I had to search around to find some plastic wrenches that could fit into the small holes around the edges of the frame. Overall, assembly wasn’t too difficult once I found the right tools. Once assembled, it works really well. Be sure to check the weight capacity before ordering. My unit weighed about 25lbs fully loaded (mop head). Amazon stated 150 lbs maximum. But after having used mine, I think I can safely add another 15lbs without breaking anything.

Lol.

3. PurSteam Steam Mop Cleaner 10-in-1 with Convenient Detachable Handheld Unit

I have been wanting to purchase this for some time now after seeing positive reviews on Facebook. I am an interior designer and was curious if I could actually make my own patterns using this product so I decided to give it a try. It does come with instructions on how to build your own pattern online which is helpful. You can plug the hose into the wall outlet and then attach each accessory cord to the corresponding spot on the handle like they show. The pros. the fabric type filter is genius because it allows the tiny little fibers to stay in the drain while filtering out everything else.

There are three different levels of steaminess depending on what you choose. Of course there is one setting for just plain steaminess. Then there is a second setting for something slightly hotter. And then even hotter for a brief moment. Each of those settings seems to last forever.

While it doesn’t look glamorous in the pictures, once you see how easy it is to move across the floor, you will be amazed. Because it is lightweight, it maneuvers very well. Even carrying it up stairs is not difficult. My only complaint would be that the metal piece where you hold the trigger cannot go back and forth very far before getting too hot but it still works fine for pushing it down since the metal block is angled forward.

You can wash it in the sink by filling the basin with HOT water and then adding dish soap. Or you can spray it onto the cleaned area and wipe it in. Either way, it comes out completely clean. This is pretty much exactly what I expected it to be like except for the fabric type filter. And I didn’t expect it to be quite as small as it turns out to be. This thing is smaller than I thought it would be.

But most importantly, IT WORKS.

4. ECOVACS Deebot N8 Pro+ Robot Vacuum and Mop Cleaner

I had been using another brand of robot vacuum for over ten years. I thought I was doing OK, but realized I wasn’t seeing many improvements on my quality of life. After hearing about this vacuum cleaner on Amazon, I decided to give it a try. As soon as it arrived, I could tell how well made it was. It has very thick plastic where it connects to the hose, which helps prevent bending and breaking due to stress.

Also, at the end of each session, there is a check to see if the canister needs emptied. If it does, simply put the little door on the back open and press down on the button to have it empty itself. It uses two different types of bags. One is meant for small pieces like shag rugs or cords.

You want to take those bags off every time before you use the machine. They are held in place by Velcro straps that attach to a bar across the top of the unit. There is one large bag that is meant to be used all day long. When it gets full, it releases a switch that allows the unit to dump what it has collected so far.

At the bottom of the unit is a roller brush that works great at removing hair and scraps. Just turn the knob on the front to lift the roller brush off the floor. Then just rotate the roller brush around in circles until no more comes off. Put the lid back on and set it aside. The next step is to get the actual work done. This is where the unit really shines. Using the map feature, it will show you where the stains are.

To clean these areas, the unit goes back and forth until it finds the stain then cleans it. In some cases, this means going back and forth repeatedly until the area is completely cleaned. But in almost all cases, once the area is cleaned, it’s never touched again. That’s because the unit knows exactly what to do. It doesn’t go into random rooms or bump into walls/chairs etc.

So even though it did quite a bit of work find the various places of stained carpet and then clean them, it only needed to touch the areas for about five seconds each. These are amazing features. There were a few times when attempting to use the washable mop pad that it wouldn’t fully detach from the roller brush. Not sure if it was a problem with the unit or me, but eventually figured out that I would flip it upside down and then it would pop off. Sometimes putting the lid back on would also cause it to pop off unless you hold it down with both hands.

Simply turning it upright fixed the issue. All in all, it worked extremely well and I was amazed at how much it picked up throughout the entire house. After reading other reviews, I saw issues regarding the cord being too short. Had I known ahead of time that this was possible, I would have ordered the extension cord.

However, based on reviews stating the cord was too short, I didn’t think it would be a problem. Anyway, the unit has multiple settings where you can adjust the length of the cord. Once you do, it runs perfectly without having to worry about it being too short. Another complaint was that the unit stopped working during a cleaning cycle. Apparently, this happens sometimes if the unit becomes unbalanced. A quick fix involved flipping the control knob backwards.

Not sure why this is necessary as it clearly states on the manual not to run the unit when it’s overheating/overloaded. Overheating seems to happen less frequently now that I’ve started using the turbo mode instead of the normal mode. My last gripe involves the side brushes…they don’t seem to stay attached very well to the main body. No matter how much I twist and turn, they always fall off.

Maybe I just got bad ones. Regardless, they are easy enough to reattach. All in all, I am extremely pleased with this unit. What a fantastic value.

5. Casabella, Painted Steel Original Mop

I have been looking at various mops I could buy from Amazon for some time. What held me back was the reviews of these small companies that sell many different products. The worst one in my mind was an air powered model that had more than 100 negative reviews over the years. To me, if something has more than 100 reviews it means there are problems or complaints. After reading so many reviews of other brands, I decided to look at the 1 rated reviews on this product which seemed to get high marks.

After reading them, along with the overall positive reviews, I went ahead and purchased this item. I’m glad I did because I do love it. It arrived quickly, was well packaged, and as soon as I unpacked it I knew right away that it would be useful. Its made from strong metal and feels very durable. This thing works great. While its lightweight, it still packs a punch when properly used.

One thing I recommend is to always attach the sponge where it will hang most securely near the bottom of the handle. That way when you pull down on the sponge, it doesn’t slip up into the metal rod. Another tip is to make certain that the end of the wand attaches firmly to the swivel piece. If not, it can easily come loose and then cause damage to the unit when using it. As far as the actual mopping performance goes, it does everything I need it to. Honestly, I didn’t think about it until today while I was doing some housework. But I actually noticed how much easier it is to move around when this thing is attached to the head.

Normally, I use a vacuum cleaner and don’t really notice what I am missing. However, I can now see that by just pushing myself slightly with my feet, I can move things out of the way without having to use such a tool. When I first started researching these types of mops, I thought about spending extra money for the PowerMax Mopper. However, after seeing how well this one performs, I don’t think I’ll ever purchase anything else.

6. EasyWring Microfiber Spin Mop, Bucket Floor Cleaning System

I have been looking at spin mops for sometime as I hate having to use my regular old fashioned sponge mop. I hated how you are basically using a dirty sponge anyway so I wanted something I could throw in the washing machine after I was done. Well this came about right on time as I had been wanting one of these for some time now. When it arrived, everything seemed very well made but before I got to use it, there were two things I needed to do. First go online and watch the video to make sure your assembly went correct. Second take it out of the box and get started.

So far I love the ease of use. You put the attachments on and then you twist the top part to lock them down. Then you attach the mop head and then you start. Very simple and easy to use.

I like the fact that you don’t have to keep track of any kind of extra parts. Once you start you simply press down to lift the unit off the ground and then swish the water around to begin spinning. If you would rather not use the included accessories just leave them out and the unit will still work perfectly fine. What I didn’t like about it so far is that the main body does not feel very durable. My wife walked across the linoleum (we have kids who run everywhere) and left shoe prints on it.

I also noticed that where the handles attached to the back of the head, there were scratches already showing themselves. I hope that doesn’t affect the longevity of the product. Overall though it seems very well made and I am hoping it holds up because it cuts down on what I consider “dirty sponges” by letting me wash it after I am done. As opposed to the traditional method which only makes the job harder.

7. Professional Microfiber Mop for Hardwood Floors, Laminate & Tile

I was very pleased when I opened my package. It contained everything needed for an excellent mopping session. However, before using it, I decided to check out how well the description matched reality by doing a few test cleans. So, as I sat there holding the mop, waiting for it to dawn on me why the handles were different colors, (the picture didn’t lie), I thought about what I could do to better protect the integrity of the wood floor. Suddenly, the idea came to me. “Why not spray paint the handle. ” What a novel idea.

Before trying it though, I took some precautions. First, I used rubbing alcohol to remove any contaminations from fingerprints left behind on the handle. Next, I sprayed it with a hose-sprayer until each individual handle was completely covered with plastic. After allowing it to air dry for several hours, I tried it out on a corner of the hardwood floor. It worked like a charm. Here’s the results of another test clean: After washing it in hot water, I added laundry detergent to the rinse bucket and ran it again. Afterwards, I wiped it down with a paper towel and allowed it to air dry.

Once dried, I re-mopped it twice while rotating it 180 degrees. At the end, it looked like brand new. These little things do such a big difference when protecting your floor.

8. Rubbermaid Commercial Products self-wringing ratchet twist mop with blended yarn head

I have been looking for an alternative to my $30+ dollar shop vac that I keep having to drag around when I’m cleaning floors or doing other housework tasks. When I saw this on Amazon I thought it worth trying as it’s less expensive than my shop vac and I don’t really need all the features of a more expensive one – just something light weight to get me through the chores while being easy to move from place to place. Upon receiving the item, I had mixed feelings. The mop itself seems well made and like it will hold up well; but then again there are some things about the product I question. First off, the included mop head appears to be smaller than what is shown online.

Which would mean that the rubbermaid part of the product should be much thinner than what is pictured. This actually worries me since the picture shows the mop head going over a floor surface which requires quite a bit of force to accomplish. So I wonder how durable such a thin piece of rubber is. And secondly, the cord used for the mop head looks like the kind you’d find at your local home improvement warehouse store, not a quality that I’d want to put close to skin after working all day. Then finally, the mop handle feels cheap – like it’ll break if you’re too rough with it. All these issues were enough to cause me to return the item via Amazon – even though they were mostly cosmetic concerns. However, later I decided to give it a try anyway because it was so inexpensive.

It’s worked very well for me. Sure, the mop head doesn’t look like anything special, but the thing works great and gets most everything off my floors each time I swiffer them. As for the handle, it does feel rather cheap but it’s still better than nothing; plus the fact that it’s half the price of my shop vac means that I can buy another if needed (and hopefully won’t have to).

9. Hoover Complete Pet Steam Mop with Removable Handheld steamer for Tile and Hardwood Floor

I have been using this product since I bought it in 2019. It is amazing. Honestly my 1st choice was actually the Swivel Sweeper that you can rotate so it does not get stuck on corners but when I saw how much more powerful the handheld steamer was I decided to try this instead. I am extremely pleased with it. The pros of this mop are:-It’s lightweight even without the attachments. -Extremely easy to use – simply press the power button then sweep away.

-Surprisingly has great suction. -Cuts through grease very well (my husband asked if he could use it on his truck because he thought it cut better than a magic eraser. Cons are mostly what others already said about it being small, especially compared to some of the other products out there. But any negatives I feel are pretty minor.

The main one being that it doesn’t clean all the way to the edges…but like I said most people don’t seem to expect it to do that anyway.

10. Simpli-Magic 79229 Spin Including 3 Mop Heads

I’ve been looking for an easier way to clean my floors than sweeping or mopping. I was tired of using the big heavy cleaning mops that don’t work on soft floor surfaces like rugs, carpets etc. This is light weight and works very well. It’s great on hardwood floors but I found it struggles a bit on tile (just doesn’t roll as smoothly) so I use Swiffer Dust Cloths with this instead of the included microfiber heads. The assembly instructions are not clear at all and the video they provide does no help either. Try these steps:1. Insert tube into base until flush.

2. Remove white plastic piece from inside base3. Rotate handle until arrow pointing down4. Push plastic piece in bottom until flush with pole5. Screw on end cap6.

Shake base while holding pole7. Make sure pole is upright then screw on other end cap8. Turn base upside down9. Let poles hang free and balanced before you start spinningIt took me over 30 minutes to figure out how to get it started properly. and after 2 hours still wasn’t quite getting it right lol.

11. Shark VM252 VACMOP Pro Cordless Hard Floor Vacuum Mop

I have been looking for an alternative to my swiffer that I used to use for years. My wife has always said I needed to find something better than that, considering how often I break out the plastic bags. Well she was right. This Shark cordless vacuum is exactly what I wanted. The lightweight is perfect as it allows me to move it easily throughout my house. The power is more than adequate too.

The first time I used this product, I had no idea that the batteries were built into the body of the unit. Until they popped out. That was a bit disconcerting but not long after I had learned the lesson. You can tell when they are fully charged because there is a faint hum when all four wheels are rolling.

This also means you can charge them while the unit is running. Very convenient. The attachments are well made and sturdy. They snap on perfectly and hold securely. A nice feature I didn’t realize until I started using it. With the attachments, you don’t need to store the pole portions separately. When you attach an attachment, the pole fits together snugly so you don’t need to worry about them falling off if by chance you weren’t careful securing it.

Even nicer is that these attachments can be cleaned without having to take the unit apart. Just a few notes…There is only one headlight. It works just fine but could be brighter. There are no side lights. Not sure if that will matter much during normal usage but thought I should mention it. Also, the cleaning solution included does not seem very effective.

In most of my rooms, I ended up pushing the solution deep into crevices and corners where dust and crumbs usually reside. So I ordered another jug of Mr. Clean multi surface cleaner. After seeing how well the Shark performed, I decided to forego having to buy any additional cleaning fluid. I am pleased to say that since then, the Shark has done a fantastic job removing dust, hair and bugs from my home. All in all, I highly recommend this cordless vacuum.

Not only is it economical, but it performs extremely well and is designed nicely.

12. Powerfresh Slim Steam Mop, 2075A

I love this thing. I had been looking at the Bissell Crosswave when it came out but didn’t want to spend $1800+. this thing is so similar yet SO MUCH BETTER. It’s compact but not tiny (like some are), it has a handle which makes it easy to move around on my various hardwood floors that were stained/oily, it has 3 different attachments that allow me to vacuum, mop and then do an all purpose heavy duty sweeping/mopping job.

The quality construction is evident as well as the ease of using it. One downside was the limited availability even from local retailers so I was excited to see that Amazon offered these right here on Amazon. The price isn’t terribly expensive compared to other high priced items, however, if you’re doing any kind of major cleaning task, expect to pay more than normal. But IMHO, it’s worth it considering how much better this thing works.
